A Critical Response to Critical Concepts for the Creative Humanities (Van der Tuin & Verhoeff, 2022)

About us

Hi everyone! We are the students of Honours Humanities Programme (HHP), an extracurricular programme aiming to unite students of different disciplines and walks of life over their love of their respective disciplines within the humanities and a desire for a new and refreshing challenge within their education.

In block 2 of the Honours Humanities Programme, students of the Good at Humanities course followed classes discussing interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity, in order for us to gain a better understanding of what each discipline has to offer in the field of humanities and what we can learn by broadening our disciplinary horizons.

We are all students from different academic fields with different disciplinary perspectives. Taking Critical Concepts for the Creative Humanities by Iris van der Tuin and Nanna Verhoeff (2022) as a starting point, we applied the different skills we already have and those we have gained in the course to concepts from the book. Each of us contributed their own interpretation of their chosen concept and combined it with their peers in an essay.

Furthermore, we were asked to make a website highlighting the essays we worked on in this time period, combining all that we learnt about multidisciplinarity and collaboration in the humanities  into the transdisciplinary project you have before you. Enjoy!
